Too Sleepy this morning to write. . .

Had a deer in the yard this morning,
freaking the cats out,
which woke me up,
which is a good thing as I had overslept the alarm...
My toes are cold

He Finally Called!

My son broke down and called me!
He is fine, they are all getting along okay, and my new grandaughter is adorable!
(I want pics!!!)
He found a job, and says it is not too bad out there, but he still wants to come back and go to college at WVU.

So I guess all is well.

Distractions Update II

From Tammi we have this:
Distractions From My Niece

And from Ren we have:
My contribution:

Watch out for these new viruses - Neither Symantec nor McAfee have solutions as yet!!!

The George Bush Virus - Causes your computer to keep looking for viruses of mass destruction.

The Clinton Virus - Gives you a permanent Hard Drive with NO memory.

The Al Gore Virus - Causes your computer to just keep counting and re-counting.

The Bob Dole (aka Viagra) Virus - Makes a new hard drive out of an
old floppy.

The Lewinsky Virus - Sucks all the memory out of your computer, then
e-mails everyone about what it did.

The Arnold Schwarzenegger Virus - Terminates some files, leaves, but
will be back.

The Mike Tyson Virus - Quits after two bytes.

The Oprah Winfrey Virus - Your 200 GB hard drive shrinks to 100 GB,

then slowly expands to re-stabilize around 150 GB.

The Ellen Degeneres Virus - Disks can no longer be inserted.

The Prozac Virus - Totally screws up your RAM, but your processor
doesn't care.

The Joey Buttafuoco Virus - Only attacks minor files.

The Lorena Bobbitt Virus - Reformats your hard drive into a 3.5 inch
floppy, then discards it through Windows.

Thank You Ladies !!!

Distraction Day Update
Couple of jokes emailed to me.
The sender wishes to remain anonymous so I shall respect his wishes.

My Friend went to a self-help group for Complusive Talkers.
It's called On & On & On Anon.

Blondie couldn't understand why she was losing so badly at Trivial Pursuit. Nevertheless, she perservered, rolling the dice and landing on Green - Science & Nature.
Her Question was, " If you are in a vacumn and someone calls your name, can you hear it?"
Blondie mulled it over for a minute then asked, "Is it on or off?"

Thank you Mr. Anonymous!!!

Distraction Day

Okay, here is the deal.
Past couple of weeks, we have had me in the mopey stage, some friends ill, some stressed out, some in pain, bad weather, power outages, flooding, few hurricanes, things like that.
So my post for today is a "Day for Distractions".
Only distracting, interesting, funny, stupid, inane stuff here today.
Anyone may contribute, either email and I will post it, or leave a comment.
Hey ! if we are real good, the Hump Fairy might pay a visit, if he is not busy elsewhere. (who's turn to bake?)But then again, it's only Tuesday.

No one contributes?
Then you must suffer my warped deranged sarcastic humour.

Or not.

Found a few websites that might fit in this catagory.

Mr Pitt Online Store
Lotsa Trivia
Murphey's Law Site
Tick Tock Toys
Honky Tonks
How Stuff Works
Fridge Magnets
Jump The Shark

Let's toss in a couple of bad jokes:

Two bowling teams, one of all Blondes and one of all Brunettes, charter a double-decker bus for a weekend bowling tournament in Atlantic City. The Brunette team rides on the bottom of the bus. The Blonde team rides on the top level. The Brunette team down below is whooping it up having a great time, when one of them realizes she doesn't hear anything from the Blondes upstairs. She decides to get up and investigate When the Brunette reaches the top, she finds all the Blondes frozen in fear staring straight-ahead at the road, and clutching the seats in front of them with white knuckles. The brunette asks, "What the heck's going on up here? We're having a great time downstairs!" One of the Blondes looks up at her, swallows hard and says, "YEAH, BUT YOU'VE GOT A DRIVER!"

Q: What do you have when 100 lawyers are buried up to their neck in sand?
A: Not enough sand.

Car God
Monday, September 27, 2004

The Car God was just here, and will be towing the cruddy piece of junk er, ummmm, I mean 'Car' out of my garage either Friday evening or Saturday AM . . . . relief may be in sight!!!

Okay there is a Car God.

2 yrs ago I was hospitalized for surgery, which is not the important thing, but I was there for 9 days.
My son was here at the house by himself, first time on his own.
He did fine except, the night he took the trash out, he forgot to lock the garage door and . . . .
The friggin very day I got home, I came home to an empty garage.
My Car, my lovely lovely very fast, easy to drive, well-maintained, I LOVE this car CAR.... had been stolen.
Well, due to its unpopularity and age, I stupidly did NOT have thieft insurance so I got NOTHING for it.

Okay so saved for 3 months, and managed to buy a used car that seemed to suit my immediate needs, but did nothing for my love of long drives or a heavy foot.
but it was a car.

It died in March of this year.
I dont know why it died, and I simply have not had the extra $$$ to look into getting it fixed.
So I walk, bus or beg rides to get to my clients and do what I have to do, saving as much as I can so I can get it up and running again.

Okay, here is where the Car God fits into it.
Today...... just a bit ago, My neighbor came up to talk.
Yes, this is the infamous Mailbox Murderer of July, but that is beside the point.
He says that since I was watching his kids for his wife when he had to work out of town so much last month, and she never paid me a thing, he wants to return the favour and he is taking the dreaded car to HIS SHOP and fixing it for nothing !!!

Then I can get it inspected and ........ and...........
Look out, I am on the road again !!!
And Autumn is here and the leaves are starting to turn and this is the absolute best time of the year to Drive in the country and the mountians for a day or three !!!

Yes... Jovi is doing the Happy Happy Joy Joy Dance right now,
and typing at the same time... love being multi-talented!!!

Jovianne ~ 6:09 PM

Monday AM

Another Chilly one this morning. . .

I think Autumn is now officially upon us and the Heat&Humidity that is so dear to Pittsburgh is GONE for the Year!!
Yes, that is a good thing.

Looks like Jeanne did her damage and is moving on ....
Tammi and Bou have reported in that they are okay, and last I heard from Tricia down in Atlanta, they were getting rains but nothing like what Ivan caused.
Long weekend for those folks.
And now the repairs to the state begin, again.

Had a quiet Sunday, didn't even post (gasp!) and back to work again here in a bit.
I am convinced that once my children move across the country I cease to exist for them. I have not heard a word since Nick left, other than the fact that he arrived safely. I know that is pretty much the norm with calling home, so as of yet, I am not worried. Come Thanksgiving, I might be a bit on the frantic side, but for now, all is well.
(except for the cats, but I don't wish to get into that arguement this morning)

Time for one more cup!

Have spent most of today putzing around the house and worrying about Tammi and others in the path of Jeanne....
Tammi is hanging in there and posting as she can.
Road Warrior Survival
She is one tough lady for staying and my thoughts and prayers are with her and everyone down that way.
She is running a current list of bloggers in that area giving updates as they can.

A little while ago, I was rambling thru some blogs and found this one.
Its All About Me, Or Is It?
Really nice and she had this post which caught my eye and I wanted to share.

If you have seen it before, then forgive me, but ...........sadly, its very fitting for me.

Cassie-b has a picture of a mega-huge cat posted today, might want to go check it out.Cassie-b It's almost scarey looking!!!

Speaking of Cats, Phil of Phily Phil's has some new pics of his new little kitten-type critter. Cute little sucker, but I understand it likes to shred Phil's legs...

Tricia and
Ren have been quiet today. . .

Heads Up!
Just had an email from Tammi...
so far so good.
It should hit her area around midnight and she says she is ready for that @#$!@%!

Friday AM

I am REALLY glad it is Friday.

This has just been a kinda bad week for me all around, and even tho I try to not let my negative moods spill out onto my blog (or anyones for that matter) I kinda didn't adhere to that rule .....

I am all better now.
Its a beautiful day out
The birds, squirrels and chippys are happy... (probably the woodchuck too)
My cats are still psychotic and attacking invisible bugs on the walls
Life Is Good.

Now if I could just figure out who called me at 4:13 this morning and WOKE ME UP, I would say Life Is Perfect.
Came up as private number, left no message, can't do a callback, so I will probably never know.
But they WOKE ME UP and I was kinda cranky about it at that time.
I am over it now.
I think.

On another note, I did watch ER last night and I now know, once again, why I quit watching that show.
It was not good.
You get all this buildup for the 'new season' and when the show is lousy, its like a letdown thing.
Law&Order on Wed, (both new episodes) were good so that makes up for it.
But I will be leaving ER alone again this year.
I should know to just stick with my cop shows.
I do need to check out that CSI one tho . . . . .
Oh, just a note for those who don't know: Part of what I do is crochet. (See "Rose Bedspread" dated Sept 16. for a photo of one of my projects)Anyhoo, I am not really a TV addict, I just have to have something on in the background while I work, and since my VCR died. . . . . well you get the idea.
I DO still need a new VCR.

It's Later
Okay so there I am walking back down the hill from the grocery store. . .
(I live on this Traumatic 'S' Curve that causes all sorts of problems, mostly in winter)
Anyhoo, as I am coming around the last curve, which ends at my front yard, there is movement in the front yard. ..
So I stop.
Now more than 5 feet from where I was standing was a Mama Woodchuck with 2 babies.
Munching away at the peanut butter bread I put out for the squirrels.
Cutest little things !
It's late in the year tho for her to be having babies. . . .Odd.
When I started to finish coming down the hill, Mama ran, and the two little ones were right behind her, making it look like a long furry snake.
They move in complete unision.
Just felt like sharing that.

Word has it. . .
that the Hump Fairy tends to leave a trail of cookie crumbs behind him.
Now I am not sure if that is a good thing or not

Good thing if:
A) he does not live in a candy cottage in the woods
B) he does not eat (cookies) in bed
C) he chews with his mouth shut

Bad thing if:
A) he lives in a candy cottage in the woods
B) he eats (cookies) in bed
C) he chews with his mouth open

Gotta think on this some.

Thurs AM

2 Weeks
It's been two weeks since my younger son flew 3000 miles across the friggin country to stay with his older brother in Washington

This house is still empty.
The cats help, but it's not the same as dickering with your 18 yr old to take out the trash?
No,,,,,,,,,,,,, its more than that.
I miss the kid.
Cutting apron strings is hard.
House is too freakin' empty.

Coffee is done.

Big Yawn

definitely time for bed.
It's sad when you go to bed simply so you can wake up and drink coffee.
Something's gotta give here.

Just a note:
I noticed our Hump Fairy disappeared on us today, so will have to 'entice' him to visit tomorrow.
Who is doing the baking???

Jovianne ~ 10:36 PM

Hump Fairy

We have our first clue as to the Identity of the Hump Fairy !
He is apparently partial to chocolate chip cookies.

(wow - - - that really narrows it down ;;;Sigh;;;)

He left a note in my comments from earlier

PS I am at 1986 hits!!!

Okay who was hit #2000 and didn't leave a calling card???

Just a note: Haloscan is messing up today with my comments count AGAIN
Very AngryI keep fixing it but. . . . then it bugs out again. but leave some anyways, they are there. It just says they aren't.

Jovianne ~ 11:53 AM

Wed AM

Good Morning !!!

It's beautiful out, and I made it (barely) past Tuesday.
Mostly Sunny
[Happy Happy Joy Joy]
Coffee is up and running if anyone wants a cup.
Bought a different brand due to the fact that IT WAS ON SALE! and its good.
But I make great coffee anyways so . . . .

According to those who KNOW...
SVU was Great! last night so apparently my Tuesdays Nights are going to be messed up for the this TV season.
(Will be passing the hat later for donations for a New VCR for Jovi Fund)
Okay so what is the happy hairy big deal about a TV show?
I don't know.
I do know that I seldom watch TV but I DO watch my cop shows.
(24, L&O, L&O SVU, NYPD BLue) . . .
I don't really consider 24 a cop show but more a weekly mind-aggravating, almost-tossing-the-chair-at-the-screen cliffhanging experience.
And of course it has Kiefer in it. What more can be said?

Neede More Coffee!

Jovianne ~ 7:53 AM

PM update
Tuesday, September 21, 2004

Why oh Why!
Do they have to show 2 of the four bestest cop shows on the same night AT THE SAME TIME!!!
Tain't fair.
Okay so I watched NYPD Blue and switched during the commercials to SVU.
I really really really really miss my VCR !!!

At least Law & Order will be on Wed, and 24 on Mondays (ONCE IT FINALLY STARTS!) so I won't have to choose between them.
Its only Tuesdays that will have me messed up.

Yes NYPD was good tonight.
I already hate the two new cast members.
And yeah, I am sad that it is the last season for this show.

Now.... question?
Did anyone watch SVU and if so. . . . what did I miss???
Phil? can you answer that???
Ignoring You

PS I promise to be in a better mood tomorrow.

Jovianne ~ 10:23 PM

Decisions Decisions. . . .
(did I spell that right?)

Tuesdays are good for something
10:00 both NYPD Blue and Law & Order SVU are premiering.
soooooooooo which do I watch?
If my VCR had NOT DIED, I would watch one, and tape the other.
opting for NYPD Blue.

Jovianne ~ 8:58 PM

Tues AM

What can be said about Tuesdays?
Its too far away from the weekend to be of any good.
Its not hump day.
Its the busiest day of the week in either retail or wholesale
kinda rates up there with Thursdays..
they are not much good either, except as a stepping stone between Hump Day and Fridays. . . .

Yeah, overslept,
its brrrrrr-chilly out,
not enough coffee in me yet,
and I am a tad bit cranky.

You have been warned.

Even without the fan on , this house is cold!!!

Guess I need to unpack the sweats for Fall.
This is some serious chilly.
Woke up with two of the three cats under the blankets with me, down near my feet.
This coffee isn't really helping either.
Dang It !
It is just TOO early to be even thinking about turning on the furnace.
Probably should have shut the windows along with turning off the window fans.

--- Thaw Out
--- make another pot of coffee
--- drink lots of coffee to stay warm
--- put in 4 hours of work
--- antagonize Gramm if he is feeling better

--- Clean out email-box
--- Continue to antagonize Gramm if he is feeling better
--- Get to grocery store ( I am almost out of coffee-Yikes!)
--- Make that pot of chile I threatened too a few days ago
--- Drink lots of coffee to stay warm

Sounds like an okay day, just need to figure out what to do after this???

Headed for a refill

Notes From The Blonde

Note to Self:

Do not fall asleep with the window fan on in the bedroom when the tempurature drops to 43. It makes for very cold house and feet come morning.

Couldn't figure out why I was so friggin cold this morning.
Then I got up and heard the window fan still running.

But! Its a good sign because that means Autumn is on the way and that I my favourite time of year.
Now if I could only get my car running to I could take the camera for a drive in the mountains during the next few weeks.

It Stopped

Well, they were wrong

It HAS Stopped raining.
First predictions were for almost 3 days of rain and we only had one and a half.
Heavy downpours and lots of flooded roads but its stopped.

Yesterday I kept hearing the birds outside even tho it was raining like crazy so . . . .
I took an old pie pan, that had seen better days, and filled it with seed and set it on the edge of the porch under the overhang so it would stay dry.
Birds were happy about it and the funny part was watching my Psycho Kittys attempting to 'attack' the birds thru the windows.
Birds didn't even flinch as tiny paws batted and clawed at the glass.
It was one of those things you just have to see.

This morning, there was still some seed left and a roaming chipmunk had found the pan... He had a great time helping himself and yes, once again, Psycho Kittys thought they could destroy him.
It was almost as good as the time that the wild turkey showed up to feed...
(One cat is still in therapy over that one)

(Note to all Bird Lovers: My cats are house cats, they do not leave the protected enviornment of this roof and could never sit and wait to actually harm any of my wild visiting critters)

(checking watch)
Hmmmmmmm its not quite noon yet, so I can still have some coffee !!!

Jovianne ~ 10:59 AM

Was just over at Gramm's blog -

Rain II

And it's still raining, as predicted.

I live on a hill, Thankfully, and the entire road has sheets of water running downhill and the gullys (or is that gullies?)
Fine, okay.
the sides of the road, -----
would be called shoulder if it were interstate but its simply the side of the road here-----
have streams racing down them.
If we were the size of mice I could be WhiteWater Rafting on my road right now.
(Hmmm say that 3 times fast).
I will say this: I feel for the folks at the bottom of my hill.
They flooded out not too long ago, and the water did $$$ of damage.
I only hope they either moved or upped their insurance because I know they are getting hit right now.

Jovianne ~ 4:18 PM

It's raining.
It's going to rain all day.
It's dark and kinda dreary.
It's going to rain tomorrow.
It's going to rain the day after that.
The matriarch cat is freaking out because it's raining.
The kittens are just freaking out because they are psychotic.

Good Day for working on projects and watching movies.

Made this Queen-size bedspread for my mum about 3-4 years ago.

done with work today

Figured I'd best post today as there are some out there that are ready to wring my neck.
See Here for details.

The Neighbors dog, Daisy, has been a daily visitor since about July and she misses my son.
She sits in front of the door and cries for him.
Kinda a whimper whine sorta thing.
Breaks my heart.
I don't mind letting her in , but my cats have major issues with her.
(Go Figure)
She is a German Shepard Mix, and I guess the cats find her size and "Let's Play Chase" habit a bit intimidating.

I am still ticked that I have to wait till January for the premiere of 24 !
The Summer has been bad enough without it, but to have to wait another few months while all the other 'Not-Quite-So-Addicting' Shows are starting just doesn't seem fair.
But good things are worth the wait so . . .

And for now, its cool enough out that I can get back to work on my afghans.
The Crafts Fair is in October and I already have 14 ready to sell, but mind as well get started on next years, and Christmas Gifts.
Problem is I love to watch movies while I crochet, and since my VCR died, and I only have so many DVD's my concentration is at a low.

Time for afternoon coffee!

Middle of the Night Ponderings

Okay well early AM . . . Geeeeeeesh.

1) Can anyone out there explain to me what the big hoopla is about Mozilla?
Why is it better?
Why do some pages view differently thru it?
( My Books Blog looks like caca in Mozilla)
What is with the tabs?
Am I using it correctly?
Or am I just so used to IE, that I don't know what I am doing?
(Who Moved My Cheese?)

2) Does every dream in colour?
I had a black and white dream 3 nights ago, and that is a first and its bugging me.
My mum claims she has never dreamt in colour. . .

3)How do you get rid of a song / tune that is in your head and shows no signs of leaving?
I have been humming / singing Mello Yellow by Donavan for over a week now and I am tired of it.
I want a new song.

4) Why is the cat always, Always! asleep in my favourite chair, only when I want to sit in it?
And why do they give such evil, dirty looks when you move them?
It only takes a cat 13.3 seconds to fall asleep, so what is the big deal if you wake them???

5) and Cassie and I want to know how a spider can spin a web in a matter of seconds/minutes across the doorway at night so you get web in your face as you walk thru even tho it was clear a moment ago.

Back to bed. . .

It's Friday Morning!!!

It is a very pleasant 63 degrees out.
It has finally stopped raining.
The sun is shining and the is a slight breeze, it's almost Spring-like out.
Even the birds and squirrels are happy as they can eat again.
I can actually see out the window as the evil, wicked man-eating Spider is dead.
I couldn't get the VCR to work, so I went and bought a Kiefer DVD so I could get my Kiefer-Fix in.

Can you say Shopping Paranoia???
I am sure most of us have heard about the latest scam with the photo cell phones. . . where someone in line behind you could take a shot of your credit card and later use the information.
I forget how long ago I heard that and saw how it might work, then kinda forgot about it.

Well here I am at the register just a bit ago, used my card, turned around only to see the lady behind me using her camera phone... she made eye contact with me and then put the phone up to her ear. then pulled it away from her ear, folded it and put it in her purse.

Never spoke to anyone.

Okay so now here I am wondering what if???
And thinking I may simply be nuts???
Made me paranoid on the way home tho. . . .
